Bolingbroke 9048 arrives at Filton

The Bristol Aero Collection received its latest acquisition on Tuesday 25th July 2006, a World War 2 Bolingbroke bomber. The Bolingbroke is a Canadian-built version of the Bristol Blenheim, a twin engined aircraft that was used extensively in the early years of the war. The aircraft has been donated by Graham Kilsby, a founder member of the BAC, who now runs his own collection in Nashville, Tennessee. The Bolingbroke has not been restored since it was disposed of in 1946, but it is in relatively good condition. It has spent the last 30 years in Southern California, and the dry conditions have prevented deterioration of the basic structure. A restoration programme will commence once a full inspection has taken place, and it will be returned to the Royal Canadian Air Force colours in which it flew in 1942. Details of its history, and its epic journey from California will appear on the Bristol Aero Collection website soon.
